refining advert, almost completed

Again I have refined the music advert by changing small elements. Compared to the last one I had I have changed some of the writing and only have 'Jill Zimmerman, souls to fuse' in that particular writing and have changed the rest of the writing to something less fancy this is mainly to enhance the brand identity so that the name can be anywhere and still recognised as this particular singer or if there was another one of her songs it would be recognised as a song by the same artist because the writing is the part that links of her stuff together. I have also brought the artist further down the page and made more of the background so that her head is not as close to the top of the page instead is in the middle clearer for the audience to see.

refining advert

After having problems getting the 'cross word' effect on the 'Jill Zimmerman, souls to fuse' to work and various people giving me feedback  to say that it is not too clear I decided to change it to as it is above i have also moved other things around  for it to look cleaner and clearer in order to inform the audience on the important elements such as who the advert it for and the date in which the single/album will be released everything else is much smaller as it is still important information its just not as important so I feel that by having the size difference it helps to distinguish the more important information to the less important information but still informing the audience on everything they need to know. I have created my advert as if the singer is very popular and well known so I gave smaller amounts of detail about the artist only a few bits of information such as her Facebook and twitter for new people to discover. I have also gone against the conventions of a real music advert in regards to having the model on the front because the artist is not looking at the camera or facing towards the camera, I have chose to do this for a couple of reasons; one of the reasons being her popularity. as i said above I'm creating the advert as if she is a very popular artist in the UK with a large fan base  and maybe some of her previous adverts would have her face on them etc but since she is now well known i feel that it is less important for her audience to see her face as they already know what she looks like so i do not feel it is necessary for them to see an image of her every single time. Secondly I have done this for a creative element to make the advert more arty and creative rather than a basic image of her face, i wanted more  tones and colours rather than a focus on her face and her, herself it also gives the audience a feeling or thought towards the advert, maybe a different one depending on the culture capital or the background, class etc the individual belongs to, but to me it shows her alone, looking into the future, kind of daydream with  the lighter colours.

Jill Zimmerman lyrics

Jill Zimmerman – Souls to fuse
When we look up at the sky
If it turns out to be true
That we each see different colours
But we all just call it blue
Well then I wanna share a spectrum
With you

If I fall under the theory of a man from long ago
I think therefore I am
And that is all that I can know
Well then I wanna share a brain wave
With you
Yes I do
‘Cos we’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
Together (mmm)
If I’m walking in the forest and I cannot see the sun
If I’m spinning 6 directions
And I’ve got to choose just one
Then I wanna share a compass yeah
With you
Yes I do
And if we’re on the artic
Sea
Yeah
If the ship is sinking quickly
And the life boats up and leave
Well then I wanna share an iceberg
With you
Yes I do
Cos we’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
We’ve got souls to fuse
Together mmm
I wanna see what you see
I wanna know what you think
I wanna go where you go
I wanna sink where you sink

We’ll be running out of money
I’ll
We’ll be running out of youth
But we’ll always have what matters
Oh I’m telling you the truth
We’ve got souls to fuse together
We’ve got souls to fuse together
We’ve got souls together
And I wanna share forever
With
You
(laugh)

final draft before class viewing

This is my final edit before the class viewing. I have made the song cut on action more to make it more interesting and keep the audiences attention. I have also added things like dissolves and out of focus to focus in the video to add more to the video and again to make it more interesting for the audience. The music videos that have really inspired me to do this is Birdys videos, she has a lot of shots on the piano and cuts on action often.

Piano research and cutting on action(little short scenes)

When making my music video I decided to look at other similar music videos to help inspire me to make me music video more appealing to the target audience therefore I chose to use Birdy- Skinny love because in most of her videos she has the piano present which is very much like mine however she has other shots too of different things. By looking at Birdys video I can see what my video is missing, these are  things such as fast cuts, cutting on action and other bits of scenery rather than just the piano. I have also looked at this video to get inspiration for the type on camera angles to use. Birdys target audience seems to be very similar to mine, females of a younger ago but not too young this is beneficial for my music video because it helps me to see what is successful in regards to music videos of my target audience.

reasearch for cutting on action and making a a performance video more exciting

This video from Birdy has inspired me because of the fact its in black and white, I think this works really well for my particular age group that my music video is aimed at because in the generation that my target audience belongs to they like to change photos in to black and white often so it is very common among the age range, I also feel like it more unique compared to a lot of other music videos which are mainly in colour. it also gives it emotion a sad, gloomy type of emotion which fits well with both this song and mine. I have also took inspiration from this video in regards to the camera angles the director and camera person have used in order to maintain the audiences focus and make it seem more interesting although there isnt really anything happening other than her playing the piano, this seems to work because of the pace in which the video is edited, there is a lot of fast cuts which are very short so you're not looking at the same shot for a long period of time.
