Location: The locations of our project where all different places and lighting conditions, some were filmed inside classrooms, shops and some outside in the city or around college. We made sure there was a fair amount of light present in our shots. However I don't feel that the places we filmed were very good locations so when i film my music video i will think about the location and try get an even bigger range of places so that there is a variety.
People: We also chose to use a range of people in our video to do the boop boops as this was the key lyrics we focused on as it came up a lot in the song, and instead of getting the same person to do it each time we wanted to make it more fun and get lots of people to do it whether that was a group or individuals. In order to do this we went around college and asked lots of people if they would be interested in being in our short music video, we had a lot of people that said no but a fair amount that said yes. Then from these we selected the ones we thought that worked best and edited them to fit the rest of our video as well as the lyrics.
Camera: We used a college camera in order to film the footage, this camera is a good camera for filming. We chose to use different camera angles too such as establishing shot, close ups, medium close ups. We also used panning for a part of our footage where we were following the girls round although most of our footage was filmed using a tripod and was still in order to get a non julty and no hand held camera effect.
Footage: Not only did we experiment with different camera angles we also experimented with lip syncing and fitted this with the lyrics when we were editing, this was quite hard because we had to get it spot on so that both the footage and the music were in time with each other.
Editing: when we were editing we tried out a few techniques that were unfamiliar to us as this was the first time we had used any media editing software, for the editing we used premier pro . we started off by selecting the relevant footage in each take we took by pressing 'I' for in and 'o' for out once it was selected we placed it on the timeline and this is where we overlapped some of the footage by placing it under one another to prevent it jumping from once take to another, this made it smoother and more like a continuous shot. We also tried out the motion option on our footage, this is where we speeded up parts of our footage such as the part where the girl is walking towards the camera on the ramp.
We used parts of our footage and cut it so that we could place half of it in one place of our video and the other half a little later on so that it linked the video together with the same shot being played.
What I have learnt: From doing this project I have learnt a lot more about a cam corder (the basics) and the basics of editing using premier pro which will help me when it comes to editing my music video although a lot of the techniques will need improving to make a good, high standard music video.
